Minor - But Still A Tragedy

The third time pays for all, or so a sage has said. And so it ends... for this sad moment anyway. For the third time I slipped and fell while shooting in the creek. Nothing broken. Just  re-bruising of an arm and a new bruising of a knee. But the camera, perhaps traumatized by this third drowning, gave up the ghost. Well, for all practical purposes. It turns on and off and I was able to upload the last photos, but a friend has passed.

I wasn't going to say anything, but I was watching  Blade Runner - The Final Cut, and there was this line that merited repeating. I continue to be haunted by the beauty I see everywhere around me. This fall here in Sonoma, California has been long, lingering, and spectacularly beautiful. But now I have no way to capture it, except in memory. Now, like the android, I can only think:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain... " (from Blade Runner)

One might wish those final photos offered some insight, some particular vision. Alas, not with a bang, but a whimper.
